Potty Training Update

Potty training PK has yielded some mixed results, as expected. I've gotten her to pee in the potty 3 times in total, though each time she peed was a result of her happening to be on the potty. Each time she pees in the potty, I congratulate her and get her to look at the pee in there. I point to her and say, "Pee pee in the potty!" I don't think she quite gets it, but I'm sure that her little brain is processing all this info in the background.

As I mentioned in a previous post, potty training PK involves her running around the basement with a bare bum and me following her with a sippy cup full of water. Trying to figure out when she'll pee is the tricky part. Sometimes, she'll pee as soon as I take her diaper off. Sometimes she won't pee the whole time we're in the basement. And other times she'll pee as soon as she drinks her water.

Yesterday, she kept peeing as soon as she drank her water. She peed 5 times while we were in the basement. On of those times was in the potty. The other 4 times were on the floor. Needless to say, I spent a LOT of time cleaning up puddles of pee while PK ran around the room (she's doing a lot of walking on her own now). One of the times she peed on the floor was particularly hillarious. She was sitting on the potty, got up, and stood maybe a couple of centimeters away from the potty when all of a sudden, there was a GIANT gush of pee. Because she wasn't that far away from the potty, we ended up with a big puddle of pee in front of the potty, plus pee sprays on the potty and on my knees. I was so dumbfounded by the whole thing that I didn't even think of putting her on the potty while the pee was gushing out. After that incident, I decided to call it a day. Four puddles of pee to clean up was enough for me.

I guess I'll just keep trying. Next up are trying to get PK to poop in the potty (no small feat, considering that she only seems to poop in her high chair), and training the hubby to train her. Right now he's scared of training PK on his own. Good times ahead!
